The Big Issue is a not-for profit organisation that publishes a magazine sold by marginalized or disadvantaged people known as ‘vendors’. Authorised vendors purchase the magazine for $2.50 and sell it for $5.00, making a clear 100 % profit. Selling the magazine also boosts vendors’ self-esteem and independence. It has a positive effect on their lives and is reflected in The Big Issue motto: “helping people help themselves”. For purchasers of the magazine it really is a good read for a good deed.

Barwon Adolescent Task Force

For more than 30 years, youth agencies in the Barwon sub-Region have encouraged their workers to contribute to the development of a hugely successful community network. This large, inclusive network of 200+ members who have a stake in improving the outcomes for young people, relies on the participation of all workers, Government representatives schools and interested community members.

BATForce identifies, develops, implements and evaluates service and sector-enhancement activities that optimise the capacity of each independent organisation, while being able, at the same time, to take a broader view of issues and services than any individual agency.

BATForce holds the tender to provide School Focused Youth Services (SFYS), a key inter-sectional program linking youth agencies and community-based programs and schools to provide programs that target students at risk of leaving school early.
