I Just Want To Be Me

Exisle Publishing are book publishers and we have a new book being published in July, which I thought may be of interest to you.

Many young people struggle with issues such as anxiety, aggression, disability and bullying through the pre teen and teen years.  "I Just Want To Be Me" is designed to assist such children and provides a valuable new resource for Counsellors, Teachers, Parents, Therapists and anyone dealing with them.

Beneath most presenting problems (trouble with parents, trouble with friends, trouble with boyfriend/girlfriend, trouble with teachers etc) there is some hidden thought that boils down to "I'm not good enough" -  it takes various forms like "I'm not good-looking enough" or "I'm not smart enough" or "I'm not popular enough". No matter what you do with the surface issue, this poisonous thought, if left alone, tends to come back and cause more problems

One of the most common underlying thoughts, no matter what the problem is, seems to be "And I'm the only one who feels this way, which means I am a freak/weird/a loser on top of everything else". This kind of thinking causes a lot of additional suffering.

I Just Want To Be Me explores those thoughts in an accessible way with a positive approach that focuses on strengths and makes use of humour. Rather than ruminating on what is wrong, I Just Want to Be Me moves swiftly to look at how the young person wants to be living their life, and what first small steps can be taken today to help them head in that direction.

In a full colour comic strip style I Just Want To Be Me is available from Exisle Publishing, with Pre Publication orders being taken now for July publication. Should you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
